New Signings

New Signings

Recent signings mean that Lindley Solo Horn Rachel Johnson has charge of a newly strengthened team.

After a period on horn with City of Bradford, Claire Westacott has returned to regular playing with Lindley on flugel. She has already showcased her talents as a flugel soloist on the band’s recent CD recording.

Following a short break from banding highly experienced horn player Ann Jackson has agreed to take the 1st horn chair at Lindley.  Her previous playing history includes stints with Marsden and the Shepherd Group bands.

The final addition to the horn team is Lucy Harper, a 2nd year Music Technology student at the University of Huddersfield.  Lucy plays with the University band.  She depped at a Lindley rehearsal, she liked us, we liked her and the rest is history.  Lucy made her debut with the band at their “Last Night of the Proms” Concert in September.

New CD!

New CD!

The band has had a busy but fabulous weekend recording for our new CD.

Thanks to Jess and Keith for their professional and efficient service.

Grateful thanks to the following players who helped us out over the weekend, Kyle Blake, Joe Hainsworth, David Hoyle, Nik Payne, Lauren Pickles, Helen Stansfield and Les Tobitt.

Also enormous thanks to the very talented Andi Cook for allowing the band to record his super new composition and for conducting the band during the recording of Rob’s solo.

The CD should be out in time for Christmas so we all know what everyone is getting for a present this year!

Victoria On The Run

Victoria On The Run

The band is very proud of its intrepid trombone player Victoria Oliver and her husband well regarded percussionist Simon Oliver, who are both taking part in the London Marathon on the 22nd April.  Victoria is running to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Simon for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

It’s not too late to sponsor them via their fundraising pages below.  Good Luck to you both!

New Year Changes

The New Year has seen a few changes at the Lindley Band.

Rob Westacott, who recently retired from top class playing with Brighouse & Rastrick, has accepted the role as Musical Director and will make his debut with the band at the forthcoming Brass at the Guild contest in Preston on 28th January.  Meanwhile, outgoing MD James McCabe has moved in the opposite direction and has returned to Rothwell Temperance Band as principal cornet.

Within the Lindley player ranks, Alison Pickles has moved to principal cornet, whilst the talented Harry Newton, a pupil at Chetham’s School of Music, has joined on solo euphonium. Haydn Osborne has been promoted to second cornet, joined by Andrew Chandler who has returned to the band after a short break and 10 year old Lucas Williamson, another successful product of Lindley’s Tower Brass, has joined on percussion.
